Originally spread over more than 8 acres or 288, 000 sq feet of land with a covered area of 70, 000 sq feet, the mill is located at 16Km Shahdara Kala Khatai Road, Distt. Sheikhupura. After its take over, the company has made remarkable improvements in the plant and machinery and infrastructure of the Unit which have enhanced both the production and storage capacity and appearance of the mill. Since its purchase, more than 5 acres of land including one acre at the front has been added to the land holding of the mill. Buildings more than 5, 000 sq feet have been constructed while roofs and floors of the existing warehouses, the Mill Room and other Stores have been refurbished to last long and wear a new look as well. Drying capacity of the Unit has been doubled with the addition of an automatic paddy dryer of capacity of 2000 bags of paddy per 24 hours. Whitening and polishing of rice plays a very important role in the process of making it acceptable in the local and export market. Old machines have been replaced by four brand new imported polishing machines each with capacity of 2. 5 M. Ton of rice per hour. Mill had already got sufficient storage capacity of more than 200, 000 bags of paddy or rice. In order to hold paddy during the process of drying, six steel silos of capacity 2500 bags each have been installed. At present the husking and processing capacity of the mill is 5 metric tons per hour. We are supplying branded rice in consumer packing to stores like MAKRO, METRO and CSD shops in big cities and also to some exporters. We have finalized plan to install a separate reprocessing unit of 5 ton capacity extendable to 10 tons per hour in the same premises. Construction work on this project has already been started. We have well trained and sufficiently experienced technical staff which is capable of handling the plant and machinery very effectively. Some of these have worked with this unit or other DOABA Units when these were run by the RECP. From the procurement of paddy which undoubtedly is the most crucial task in a rice mill, handling of wet paddy till dried and safely stored and then different stages of production to control the percentage of broken grains to certain limits and finally to present an excellent quality of finished rice are the tasks which require utmost care and vigilance. We can very comfortably boast of having Production and Managerial staff which is competent enough to very efficiently handle and supervise all the aspects of a rice mill.
